Beaches and Swimming
Mississippi Mills is surrounded by many beautiful bodies of water offering access for swimming, boating and fishing!
Please note: municipal beaches are unsupervised and you must swim at your own risk at all times. It is highly recommended that you never swim alone. Please be aware that water levels and conditions may change unexpectedly. Check with the Leeds, Grenville, and Lanark District Health Unit for current water conditions.
Almonte Beach
Located at 195 Water Street in Almonte at the North Lanark Agricultural Society Fair Grounds & Agricultural Hall.
Amenities include: shade structures, washrooms, boat launch & unsupervised beach area.
Pakenham Beach
Located at 106 Margaret Street in Pakenham close to Fred Millar park and the Stewart Community Centre.
Amenities include: changerooms, shade trees and picnic tables, small boat launch and unsupervised beach area.
Aquatic Reimbursement Pilot Program
This program was designed to provide residents of Mississippi Mills with reimbursement for the difference between resident and non-resident fees charged for the use of aquatic programs in Carleton Place, Arnprior or West-Ottawa.
The pilot program is continuing for the 2024 calendar year. Decisions about the future of the program will be considered in the 2025 Budget in the context of the Community Services Master Plan.

Carleton Place Water Dragons (CPWD)
The Carleton Place Water Dragons (CPWD) swim club is a volunteer run, not-for-profit organization offering programs for swimmers of all ages and abilities. Those interested in non-competitive swimming, competitive swimming, or those interested in swimming as cross training will enjoy the Water Dragons program. Schedule a complimentary evaluation with the Head Coach to determine which of the CPWD programs is the best for you or your child’s/youth’s skill level.
