$13,811 Royal Canadian Legion Donation Purchases Lifts for Fairview Manor

The Royal Canadian Legion, Ontario Provincial Command Branches and the Ladies Auxiliary Charitable Foundation have made a donation of $13,811 for the purchase of two Sara Flex Active Lifts for Fairview Manor.

Almonte Legion President Rob Madore and Veteran Services Officer Matt Carson came to the Manor Thursday, March 7 to present the cheque to staff and residents of the Manor and the Almonte General Hospital Fairview Manor (AGH FVM) Foundation’s Al Roberts.

“Keeping the Manor residents as active as possible and ensuring their dignity is vital to their quality of life,” said Roberts. “The Legion’s generosity in providing this donation goes a long way in enhancing resident care and helps reduce injuries for the dedicated Manor staff.”

Director of Care Amanda Becking described how this lift helps gently and safely move a resident from a sitting position up to a supported standing position so they can be repositioned onto a chair, a shower chair, the toilet or their bed. A lift like this will often be used 4-8 times per day for one resident.
