38 Main Street East Update – December 16, 2024
Since the last update on December 6, stabilization works on 38 Main Street East has made sufficient progress to reinstate two-way traffic.
Weather permitting, tomorrow (Tuesday, December 17), the exclusion zone will be reduced, barriers will be shifted, snow and the temporary traffic lights will be removed to provide sufficient room to reopen the street for two-way traffic.
Barriers and traffic control signage and equipment will remain on the road and pedestrian traffic will still be restricted. It is very important that pedestrians adhere to any sidewalk closures and remain outside of the exclusion zone.
While Union Street South will reopen to traffic, Union Street North will remain closed due to construction activities and additional work. Further work is required to the building to complete the stabilization and allow for the full reopening of Main Street and Union Street, which is anticipated to take another few weeks.
As stated in previous updates, all costs associated with these works will be invoiced back to the property owner.
