Bicentennial Commemorative Coin Now Available

Celebrations for the Mississippi Mills Bicentennial are well underway! To commemorate this milestone beyond the year 2023, a coin has been produced that showcases all corners of our community.

The coin pays tribute to the historical evolution of Mississippi Mills - from the earliest days of the weaving industry, powered by the flowing Mississippi River, to the invention of basketball by local resident Dr. James Naismith.

The loon is an important symbol to Indigenous culture; the 5 Span Bridge is a historic and iconic structure; and the fields pay homage to the area’s rich agricultural land.

The image was drawn by local artist Auni Milne and produced by the Mississauga Mint with support from Alliance Coin & Banknote in Almonte.

The commemorative coin is available for $10 each and can be purchased at the Municipal Office, Almonte Old Town Hall, Mississippi Mills Public Library (Almonte and Pakenham branches) and will soon be sold at participating local businesses. Get yours today!
