Blakeney Bridge Closure – July 2 to December 2024
Press Release – Lanark County
Blakeney Bridge in Mississippi Mills will be closed until mid-December starting Tuesday, July 2 in order to facilitate the removal and installation of the new bridge.
Blakeney Rapids Park will remain open. Please follow signage posted by Lanark County for parking instructions.
The existing single-lane bridge, which was built in 1915, will be replaced with a two-lane modular bridge with a widened shoulder to accommodate pedestrians. Work includes all new concrete abutments and piers. Looby Construction was contracted by the County to complete the work.
Blakeney Bridge crosses the Mississippi between Almonte and Pakenham. During the replacement work, Five-Span Bridge in Pakenham and Ottawa Street Bridge in Almonte are the nearest alternatives for crossing the river.
“Time lapse video will be available for the public to view the progress of the project and can be accessed at www.lanarkcounty.ca/blakeneybridge,” said Sean Derouin, Lanark County Public Works Manager.
More detail about the entire project can be found there as well. For more information, contact roads@lanarkcounty.ca.
