As per Regulation 239/02 of the Municipal Act, 2001, and due to significant snowfall forecasted, the Municipality of Mississippi Mills has declared a significant weather event for Wednesday, February 12 at approximately 10 p.m.

This declaration suspends the standard timelines required for Mississippi Mills to meet winter maintenance measures until the Municipality declares the significant weather event has ended. It may take longer than usual to bring the condition of the roads back to a state of repair.

The Municipality of Mississippi Mills may declare a significant weather event when the weather forecast or conditions include one or more of the following conditions:

  • Significant snow accumulation during a 24-hour period

  • Ice formation occurring with no warning from the weather forecast

  • High winds leading to large snow drifts

  • Cold temperatures when de-icing operations will not be effective

The Municipality will post when the significant weather event has ended.

Please stay off the roads if possible and be cautious when near snow removal equipment.

For more information on the declaration of significant weather events, see Ontario Regulation 239/02
