Media Release: Fatal House Fire in Mississippi Mills

FATAL HOUSE FIRE IN MISSISSIPPI MILLS May 12, 2022

 Yesterday evening, May 12, 2022 members of the Mississippi Mills Fire Department (MMFD) attended and contained a fatal house fire in Almonte.   

“On behalf of Council, I would like to express my sincere condolences to the family and friends of the victim,” said Mayor Christa Lowry. 

MMFD members responded to the scene, suppressed the fully engulfed structure, and performed search and rescue efforts.  The Municipality fully appreciates the efforts of our firefighters, and we support them as skilled and giving members of our community who contribute to our safety in challenging situations such as these.

 This is a serious incident and Lanark County OPP Crime unit, Forensic Identification Services, The Ontario Fire Marshall's Office and the Coroner continue to investigate.
