Media Release: Come Celebrate the Early Years of Mississippi Mills

As we celebrate the Bicentennial of Mississippi Mills, the North Lanark Historical Society invites you to come back in time to our PIONEER DAY. This entertaining historical event will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023 from 10:00am to 4:00pm on the grounds of the North Lanark Regional Museum, located on 647 River Road in Appleton.

The day will provide exhibits and demonstrations suitable for all ages to see what life in the first half of the 19th century was like for our residents. Included are tours and displays in our museum, our 1840s pioneer cabin, and a new building with some agricultural displays.

There will be numerous displays on the grounds by re-enactors & demonstrators including members of the 84th and 100th Regiments, blacksmithing, spinning, weaving, quilting, wood-working and musical entertainment. There is even a spot to try dressing in period-style clothing for a photo-op!

Barbeque Lunch will be available on site, sold by Almonte Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Admission is $5 per person, with children 12 & under free.
