Mercer and Marshall Street Reconstruction Set to Begin June 17
The Municipality of Mississippi Mills will soon begin the reconstruction project for Mercer Street and Marshall Street, from Adelaide Street to Ottawa Street.
The project is anticipated to begin on June 17, 2024 and will conclude this fall. Core Civil Construction was awarded the $2,562,180 contract by Council during the May 21, 2024 meeting. These upgrades were approved in the 2024 Budget.
The design phase of this project was initiated back in 2016 when an engineering review was conducted to explore options for enhancing the underserviced stormwater management and surface drainage in the area.
Works include:
-
Replacement of watermain, sewers and services to the property line
-
Road reconstruction
-
New curbs and sidewalks
Works relating to water and sewer will be paid through water and sewer user fees.
Mercer Street and Marshall Street will be closed for the duration of the project, with access limited to local traffic only. Residents will have access to their properties, though driveway and vehicle access may be restricted at times. Pedestrian access to homes and Augusta Street Park will be maintained at all times. Residents who are impacted by this construction have received notification of the project’s commencement.
The Municipality and Core Civil Construction Incorporated will make every reasonable effort to minimize disturbances throughout the duration of construction.
