National AccessAbility Week is May 26 to June 1, 2024
May 26 to June 1 marks National AccessAbility Week!
Did you know that 1 out of every 5 Canadians have a disability? Each year, Canada celebrates National AccessAbility Week to recognize the valuable contributions and leadership of Canadians living with disabilities. This week is also an opportunity to highlight the work of allies, organizations and communities that are removing barriers and to raise awareness of the critical need for accessibility and inclusion for all in our communities.
This year’s theme is ‘Forward Together: Accessibility and Inclusion for All,” underscoring the need to make all our communities barrier-free.
Mississippi Mills Council officially proclaimed May 26 to June 1, 2024 National AccessAbility Week in the Municipality.
Council also declared Wednesday, May 29, 2024 as Red Shirt Day, a day for people across Canada to come together and wear red to create a display of solidarity for people and families living with disabilities.
Be sure to keep an eye out throughout this week for tips and information on how to become more accessible and inclusive.
