NOTICE - Blakeney Bridge Closure Now in Effect Until December
As of July 2, 2024, the Blakeney Bridge will be closed until mid-December for the removal and installation of a new bridge.
Blakeney Rapids Park will remain open. Please follow signage posted by Lanark County for parking instructions.
The existing single-lane bridge, which was built in 1915, will be replaced with a two-lane modular bridge with a widened shoulder to accommodate pedestrians. Work includes all new concrete abutments and piers. Looby Construction was contracted by Lanark County to complete the work.
During the replacement work, Five-Span Bridge in Pakenham and Ottawa Street Bridge in Almonte are the nearest alternatives for crossing the Mississippi River.
Lanark County has a live feed of the bridge and will be posting time lapse video of the project's progress as well as updates via www.lanarkcounty.ca/blakeneybridge.
