Public Notice – Blasting Operations for Weaver’s Way Subdivision
Construction on the Weaver’s Way Subdivision has commenced and blasting operations and grading is ongoing.
Please be advised that blasting is expected to last up to five months and is being conducted to break rock for the construction of homes and for installation of services such as sewers and watermains.
Residents up to a kilometre away from the site may hear and feel the blasts as they are completed. It is common to feel vibrations in your home from the blasting.
Safety Measures
The developer has put safety measures in place to ensure homes are protected, including blasting mats which cover explosions, as well as vibration monitors that have been installed in multiple locations (backyards and foundations) to ensure vibrations are not causing damages to neighbouring homes.
Prior to each blast, the contractor sounds a horn or siren signaling that a blast is occurring. This signal is to notify workers on the site and homeowners nearby and it may be very loud; however, it is necessary to alert the area prior to any blast taking place.
Traffic
As construction continues in the coming weeks, traffic at the site is expected to increase. The Municipality has worked with the developer to confirm that there is no construction access via Paterson Street or Old Almonte Road.
The main access for construction traffic is located on Industrial Drive at the corner intersection with the future road, Gerry Emon Drive. There may be another site access created directly from Appleton Side Road in the future.
