Climate Action Plan

In May 2024, Mississippi Mills Council approved a workplan to develop a local Climate Action Plan (CAP) using the Partners for Climate Protection (PCP) Framework. The CAP will cover Mississippi Mills as a community but also internally as a corporation. The goal of the CAP is to understand the current emissions of the Municipality, set reduction targets, and develop attainable goals that allow the Municipality to reduce emissions and meet the set targets.

The PCP framework guides the development of the CAP within the following milestones:

  1. Develop a Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions inventory for both community and corporate emissions

  2. Set GHG reduction targets

  3. Create goals that can be implemented to meet the GHG reduction targets

  4. Implement goals

  5. Monitor progress and effectiveness of implementation against GHG emissions

Public insight, feedback, and comments are welcome at every stage of this process. Please use the “Contact” button at the side of this page or send your notes to climate@mississippimills.ca – we’d be happy to hear from you.

We are currently in progress on Milestone #1 – developing a GHG emissions inventory. This milestone is important as we need to understand the current emissions of the municipality prior to setting reduction targets.
