With our brand-new child-care facility opening in September, we are recruiting for multiple full-time, part-time and casual positions in our toddler, pre-school, and before & after school programs.

Council has approved construction of a new Mississippi Mills Childcare Services facility at 111 Menzie St (formerly 34 Victoria St) in Almonte. The proposed project would replace the current childcare centre on State Street, which houses 73 childcare spaces. With Canada-wide Early Learning and Childcare (CWELCC) funding—administered by Lanark County—the expansion would allow for an additional 78 spaces. That would bring the total licensed capacity to 151 CWELCC spaces, along with additional room for future growth.

Project updates
Great progress is being made on the future home of Mississippi Mills Childcare Services on Menzie Street!
Mississippi Mills staff members had the chance to tour the site last week, getting a close look at the work being done by Chandos Construction.
Current work underway:
- Interior finishes are being installed
- Exterior siding and building envelope work are progressing
- Civil and landscaping work will begin as spring conditions allow
Once finished, this $10.5M, 13,000-square-foot centre will double our current childcare capacity, offering 151 Canada‑wide Early Learning and Child Care spaces. Families can look forward to bright play areas, expanded learning spaces, a commercial kitchen, staff offices, and a beautiful nature‑based play yard.
The project remains on schedule and is expected to open this September.
Construction has began!
The Municipality of Mississippi Mills marked a major milestone on August 14, 2025, with the official groundbreaking for the new Mississippi Mills Childcare Services facility. Municipal officials, community leaders and project partners gathered at the future site of the centre at 111 Menzie St in Almonte to celebrate the beginning of construction.
