Today, on National Indigenous Peoples Day, we recognize and celebrate the history, heritage, resilience and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis across Canada. Their fundamental contributions have shaped our past and continue to shape who we are today.
Due to the extreme heat in the forecast, the Summer Solstice Celebration originally to be held in Riverfront Park on Thursday, June 20 will now take place at the John Levi Community Centre. Set for 6 to 9 p. m. , this National Indigenous Peoples Day celebration is open to everyone in the community and will include an Indigenous ceremony, food, music, jingle dancing, Algonquin craft making, Inuit games and more.
