Aquatic Reimbursement Pilot Program Launched
On October 6, 2023, Mississippi Mills launched an aquatic reimbursement pilot program for residents.
What is the aquatic reimbursement pilot program?
The program is designed to provide residents of Mississippi Mills with reimbursement for the difference between resident and non-resident fees charged for the use of aquatic programs in Carleton Place, Arnprior or West-Ottawa.
What programs can I request reimbursement for?
The non-resident portion of fees will be reimbursed for public swim fees, swim lessons, aquafit, and other aquatic programs. The fees must have been incurred and paid between September 1, 2023 and December 31, 2023.
When can I request reimbursement?
The pilot program relates to the period of time between September 1, 2023, and December 31, 2023. Reimbursement can be requested any time in this period, but must be requested before January 15, 2024.
How do I request reimbursement?
There are two ways to request reimbursement:
Visit the Municipal Office (3131 Old Perth Road) or Almonte Old Town Hall (14 Bridge Street). Bring your original receipt and a piece of ID to confirm your residency in Mississippi Mills. The Customer Service representative will help you fill in the form.
Fill out the reimbursement form online: www.mississippimills.ca/aquatic or scan the QR code below. Be sure to include a photo or scanned copy of your receipt.
When can I expect my payment?
Reimbursement will be made by cheque and mailed to your residence in Mississippi Mills. This may take up to 4 weeks from date of submission. If your claim for reimbursement is over $20, we will process and pay within 4 weeks. If the amount owed is less than $20, we will wait until the balance reaches $20 or more to process payment.
To ensure everyone who has made a claim is reimbursed, we will review balances that have not reached $20 on or before November 30, 2023 and January 31, 2024 and make payment.
Why are you only paying amounts over $20?
The cost of issuing a cheque and mailing it was taken into consideration when determining this amount. To be as efficient as possible, we chose this amount to ensure that payments are issued regularly. In January, we will pay out everyone’s account, even if it is less than $20.
What if I have receipts for payments made after December 31, 2023?
Hang on to your receipts, as reimbursement will be provided for these payments at a later date in 2024. More information will be shared after we have evaluated the pilot program.
What happens after the pilot?
Once the pilot is complete, staff will conduct an evaluation and report back to Council. If needed, changes will be made to the procedure to carry the program into 2024.
When can I provide feedback?
We want to hear from you! If you have comments or feedback to share about the pilot program, please email town@mississippimills.ca. We will consider all feedback in our evaluation.
I still have questions – who can I talk to?
Please call 613-256-2064 ext. 201 if you have any questions about the program.
