Council Highlights - August 13, 2024
During the first meeting back after summer recess, Council heard a delegation from Bill Janes and Karin Nakamura with the Lanark Basic Income Network seeking support for a basic income program. Council received the presentation as information.
A Public Meeting was held regarding a Zoning By-law Amendment application for 306 Cedar Hill Side Road to rezone a portion of lands to be severed under a consent application, to prohibit construction of any future residential dwellings. The matter will come before a future Council meeting for approval.
Council also passed three by-laws; the first which authorizes civil marriage solemnization services in the Municipality; as well as an amendment to the Zoning By-law for 1218 Old Almonte Road, designating the lands as ‘Business Park Exemption 1.’ The third by-law authorizes the signing of a Municipal Funding Agreement between Mississippi Mills and the Association of Municipalities of Ontario under the Canada Community-Building Fund.

The draft Transportation Master Plan presented by consultants Parsons Inc. Under the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process for Master Plans, the draft plan has been posted for a 30-day public review period. Quarterly Reports received from Corporate Services, Childcare Services and the Clerks Department.

The recommendation for approval of Official Plan Amendment 33 (Limited Service Residential and Private Roads Study) and related Zoning By-law and Site Plan Control By-law amendments.

The recommendation report to approve the Zoning By-law Amendment and Draft Plan Conditions for the Hilan Village subdivision.

The recommendation to approve the Zoning By-law Amendment and lift the holding zones for the Weaver’s Way subdivision.
