Flags Lowered in Honour of the National Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism – June 23, 2024

Today, June 23, is the National Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism. This day was first proclaimed by the Government of Canada in 2005, in memory of those who have lost their lives through acts of terror in Canada and around the globe.

This day was chosen to coincide with the date of the Air India Flight 182 bombing, that occurred on June 23, 1985, and caused the deaths of 329 people.

To recognize the National Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism, flags at the following municipal facilities have been lowered:

  • Mississippi Mills Municipal Office

  • Mississippi Mills Fire Department Station 1 (Almonte)

  • Almonte Old Town Hall

  • John Levi Community Centre

  • Ontario Clean Water Agency
