Notice of Complete Application and Intention to Remove Holding Symbol – 1218 Old Almonte Road
TAKE NOTICE that a Committee of the Whole meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. to consider an application to amend the Zoning By-law Amendment in order to remove Holding Symbols under Section 36 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, Chapter P.13.
An attached map identifies the location of the property and the area subject to this application.

Location and Description of Property: The subject property is located along the northeast side of Old Almonte Road/Paterson Street and along the south side of Appleton Side Road. The property is approximately 33.5 hectares in size and has approximately 614.3 metres of frontage along Appleton Side Road and 427.5 metres of frontage along Old Almonte Road. The property is currently vacant and was previously used for agricultural purposes.
Surrounding land uses include the Mississippi Mills Business Park to the north; a retirement home, a school, and low-rise residential developments to the west; and, rural land uses, including non-farm residential uses to the south and to the east.
Purpose and Intent of the Zoning By-Law Amendment: To remove the holding (h) symbols from the areas of the subject property presently zoned R1J-h, R3-16-h, R4A-h, OS-4-h. These zones constitute a variety of Residential zones and one Open Space zone. The zones were applied to the subject lands as part of Zoning By-law Amendment Z-01-23, with the condition that holding (h) symbols were to remain in place until such time that a Notice of Decision was received from the County of Lanark for the associated Draft Plan of Subdivision application (09-T-23002). The applicant has satisfied the condition of the holding provisions and as such is applying to remove the holding (h) symbols.
