Open Air Burning

The Mississippi Mills Fire Department are reminding residents to be cautious when burning this weekend.

This weekend will bring warm weather to the area and everyone will be seeking to get outdoors.  The recent snow melt and high winds have created dry conditions in some areas of the municipality.  Everyone who wishes to burn must ensure they have a valid 2021 Burn Permit and exercise caution when burning.

Anyone open air burning in the municipality is required to obtain a permit and activate their permit before burning.  Burn Permits are obtained by visiting the website at https://mm.burnpermits.com/.

Burn permits have conditions that limit some forms of burning, the materials that are permissible to burn, and restricts permits from being issued in areas that are prohibited from burning.  Residents who do not comply with permit restrictions may be liable for fire protection service costs.  Please ensure you follow the conditions of your permit when burning.

The status of the burn conditions for Mississippi Mills is Yellow or Moderate Risk.  Please visit the burn permit webpage to obtain your permit and check the status for open air burning.
