Statement on Fire at Almonte Fairgrounds

Over the weekend, a fire destroyed the Municipality’s beach/storage changing hut at the Almonte Fairgrounds.

Thanks to the quick efforts of Mississippi Mills Fire Department, the fire was contained and did not spread further. An investigation has been conducted, and the cause is undetermined. However, it is not believed the fire was started intentionally.

The area has been taped off and damaged materials have been removed by Public Works staff. The Municipality recommends the public avoid the area until full cleanup has taken place.
