The Municipality of Mississippi Mills will soon begin the rehabilitation project for Union Street North, from Carss Street to Main Street East. Construction is anticipated to begin on May 21, 2024 and conclude in the fall.
R.W. Tomlinson Limited was awarded the $4,892,022.56 contract by Council during the April 23, 2024 meeting. This project was identified in the 2018 Water and Wastewater Master Plan as necessary to support future development in the Town of Almonte.
Works include:
-
Replacement of watermain, sewers and services to the property line
-
Road reconstruction
-
New curbs and sidewalks
Works relating to water and sewer will be paid through water and sewer user fees.
Union Street will be closed for the duration of the project, open to local traffic only. Residents of the area will have access to their properties, but driveway/vehicle access will be limited at certain times. Residents who are impacted by this construction have received notification of the project’s commencement.
