Police

In Mississippi Mills, police services are provided through the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). The Police Services Act legislates policing in Ontario and authorizes the OPP to provide:
- Crime prevention
- Law enforcement
- Assistance for victims of crime
- Public order maintenance

The Community Plan for Safety and Well-being
Community Safety and Well-being (CSWB) plans address the unique safety needs of communities. It is provincial requirement for every regional municipality to have a CSWB plan in place. The plan identifies local priorities and evidence based, sustainable solutions. The goal is to ensure those in need of help get the right response, at the right time, and by the right service provider.
The Community Plan for Safety and Well-being for Lanark County and Smiths Falls has been in place since 2018. A variety of local groups from police, to social services, to health care collaborated on the plan.

Other Resources
