There is a new way to get municipal approval for water and sewer service connections and repairs. Starting in January 2025, the Municipality will be processing most requests for water and sewer service connections using a water works permit system. If you need to make repairs or replace your existing services or you would like to make new connections to the municipal system then you will need to apply for a water and sewer works permit.
Once you have filled out your Water and Sewer Works Application Form, you can submit it in person to the building desk at 14 Bridge Street at the Almonte Old Town Hall or via email to mplanner@mississippimills.ca. You must pay the application fee for your permit in person at the front desk of the Planning & Building Department at 14 Bridge Street. For details on permit fees, please refer to the Planning and Engineering Application Fees.
The Development Services and Engineering Department will review your application for completeness and send it to the relevant departments for comments and approvals.
If your application is approved, an official permit document will be prepared for you so sign and take with you to your job site. The permit must always be at the job site, and if requested by municipal staff the permit must be ready for presentation.
Due to the nature of water and sewer service work, the Municipality requires that all applicants for a permit submit a security deposit which is held until the work is complete and the site is restored to an acceptable standard. The amount required for the deposit is determined by the Director of Roads & Public Works and is based on the extend of trenching and roadwork required to complete the permitted work. To submit a security deposit, please fill out the Security Deposit Form.
