On Friday, November 24, the Municipality of Mississippi Mills initiated a full closure of Union Street and the adjacent block of Main Street, relating to safety concerns with the building at 38 Main Street East in Almonte (Dungarvon Building). Since that time, the Municipality has been working with the property owner on next steps to stabilize the building.
The Municipality anticipates the road closure for 38 Main Street East will be in place for the foreseeable future. .
From the Government of Ontario. The Ontario Anti-Hate Security and Prevention Grant (Winter 2023-24) is a grant program that will provide funds to eligible faith-based, cultural, 2SLGBTQQIA+, First Nations, Inuit, Métis and Urban Indigenous organizations and communities to enhance or implement measures to ensure community spaces remain safe and secure from hate-motivated incidents.
We are nearing the end of our aquatic reimbursement program pilot for 2023. We have had a great community response, and we are pleased to announce that we are able to open up the program for the pilot phase so that more residents can benefit.
Press Release – Ontario Historical Society. The Ontario Historical Society’s (OHS) Honours and Awards Committee is pleased to present the 2022-23 Heritage Conservation Award to Fran Kronstal, owner of 58-60 Mill Street in Almonte, Ontario for her excellent work in preserving and restoring this property.
The Mississippi Mills Municipal Office will close for the holidays at noon on Friday, December 22, 2023. The office will reopen on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at 8:30 a. m.
The renewal of Princess Street in Almonte is on the verge of completion, as the last layer of asphalt was applied on Friday, December 15, allowing full access for vehicle traffic. We will conclude any outstanding walkway reinstatements before the winter shutdown, and the final landscaping, including sod reinstatement, is scheduled for completion in spring 2024.
